A Different Kind of “Value”
Whenever we put out any piece of content for our clients, whether it’s a podcast, a blog, a landing page, a video, a Tweet, or anything else, it contains value. That means that there’s a reason for our marketing content to exist other than just marketing. Yes, we want people to look at what we’re putting out there and then patronize our clients. But, that’s not the primary reason that the content exists, that we created it.
The same goes for TikTok. You want your TikTok videos to have value there, too. But, (and this is crucial) what’s emphasized in terms of “value” is different there. TikTok is all about entertainment. That doesn’t mean that you need to have a broadway dance number for every video your retail store puts out. But, it does mean that you always want to make sure that each of your videos are entertaining.
Ask yourself: “would I want to watch this? Is this enjoyable to watch?” If so, then you either have a good TikTok video or the beginning of one. No one wants to be just “sold” on TikTok. By that same token, they don’t want a dry recitation of your goods and services, either. They want to be entertained. If you can entertain them, if you can hold their attention, then and only then do you have the opportunity to market to them.
