Perhaps the Most Underrated Marketing Skill

ds

What makes a great marketer?

Whether for your own small business or for someone else’s, what sets one marketer apart from the next?

The ability to craft effective campaigns? Of course.

Creating engaging content that’s valuable for customers/clients? Absolutely.

Having a mastery of SEO, Google Ads, and similar technical skills? 100%.

Those are just a few attributes of a great marketer and marketing team.

However, there’s one particularly important skill that you may not hear about all that often. To really help a business grow, you absolutely need it.

A Lesson from the News

Resource allocation.

You need to be able to get the most out of your resources.

Money is, of course, an important resource.

Time, your employees, your materials/products – all critical resources.

How you use your social media platforms is also part of “resource allocation.”

Knowing that more of your customers are on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and then focusing more on one or two of those versus the others. That’s resource allocation, too.

When you get money in, spending it the right way is important, too.

This particular news story jumped out to the entire Danny Star team today.

The state of Iowa has a job surplus.

So, they’re going to “use some pandemic relief funds on a marketing campaign to persuade people to move to Iowa.”

This isn’t to debate the pandemic, or whether or not this should be done, or anything of that nature.

Rather, it’s a business leader (in this case, the governor) deciding to use excess money to make more money.

There’s plenty of other ways that money could be spent.

But, when something should break your way, putting that money back into growing your company can be the right decision.

To make sure that you’re growing your business the right way, Danny Star can help. You can schedule a remote marketing consulting in Los Angeles session with him at (213) 457-3250.
